Day 4. Randazzo > S. Domenica Vittoria > Argimusco > Montalbano elicona > Palermo

After passing Ponte Sette Archi, bridge over the Alcantara river, we leave Randazzo and drive up the Nebrodi mountains from Santa Domenica Vittoria. We greet the horses grazing, among which we identify the Sanfratellani. At Passo Favoscuro we take the SS110, bordered by a large wind farm, which leads us to the Argimusco plateau, over 1200m. Here are the sandstone megalithic rocks modelled in evocative forms that geomorphologists explain due to wind erosion. After crossing a carpet of ferns punctuated with holly, our gaze settles on the horizon towards the mass of the Etna volcano, the Tyrrhenian sea, the Aeolian Islands. The silence that pervades the plateau is interrupted only by the sound of the wind.
